Billiards in Hoi An: 7 Pool Halls Checked on Google Maps, with Hours and Directions (2026)
Billiards in Hoi An happens outside the Old Town, in halls a few minutes’ ride away. We checked seven on Google Maps, measured the ride from our shop and flagged the one that moved.
Finding a pool table in Hoi An is easy. Remembering that the last frame usually comes with a few beers, and the scooter is still parked outside, is the hard part.
We rent bikes at 84 Phan Chau Trinh, and most evenings someone asks where they can shoot some pool. None of the billiard halls are inside the walking streets of the Old Town, and the ones that come up in older guides have moved or faded. So in November 2026 we went through every billiards hall we could find on Google Maps, checked the address, phone number, rating, review count and opening hours, and measured the ride from our shop.
The result is seven halls worth knowing, all between 1.3 and 2.3 km from the shop: four to eight minutes on a scooter, or a short Grab ride if you plan to drink. This is the guide to billiards in Hoi An we send our own customers.
Quick pick: where to play billiards in Hoi An tonight
The halls sit in three clusters: north of the Old Town around Le Hong Phong and Hung Vuong, north-east around Ly Thai To and Nguyen Dinh Chieu, and along Cua Dai road on the way to the beach.
| You want | Go to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The established local hall | Bida Anh Vu | The most Google reviews of any hall in town, 89 |
| To play after 11 pm | FOX, The 1984 or Top Win | All three list 24-hour opening on Maps |
| Food, beer and music with your pool | The 1984 Billiards Club | Its full name is “Food Beer and Music”, rated 4.8 |
| Coffee or tea, not beer | FOX Billiards Coffee and Tea | Exactly what the name says, and one of the closest |
| Three-cushion carom | Viet Carom Billiards | The name tells you which tables it is about |
| The best rating | NEW Hoi An Billiards | 5.0 from 60 reviews |
Pool or carom: ask before you go
Vietnamese say “bida” for both, but they are different games on different tables. Pool is the six-pocket game most visitors know: eight-ball, nine-ball. Carom has no pockets at all, just three balls and points scored off the cushions; three-cushion carom has a serious following in Vietnam, and a lot of the regulars in a local hall will be playing it.
Most billiard halls in Hoi An can have both, in different proportions. Viet Carom, as the name suggests, leans to carom. Halls with English names such as FOX and The 1984 get plenty of foreign visitors, so they are more likely to have pool tables free. We have not counted tables in every hall, so message ahead, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when tables fill up.
The words that help. “Bida lo” means pool (literally “pocket billiards”); “bida bang” means carom. Showing either on your phone at the counter saves a lot of pointing.
The 7 billiard halls in Hoi An, with address and hours
Ordered by number of Google reviews. Ratings, review counts, hours, addresses and phone numbers are what Google Maps showed on 2 November 2026. Distances were measured on Google Maps from our shop at 84 Phan Chau Trinh, by the fastest route.
1. Bida Anh Vu
471 Cua Dai · +84 935 502 555 · Google 4.2 from 89 reviews · closes 11:30 pm · 1.4 km, about 5 minutes
The only hall from the 2021 version of this list that still has the same address and number. The most reviewed billiards hall in Hoi An, on the main road out to Cua Dai beach. The 4.2 is lower than the newer places, but it has been there the longest.
2. The 1984 Billiards Club – Food, Beer and Music
414 Cua Dai, Hoi An Dong ward · +84 905 616 197 · Google 4.8 from 65 reviews · open 24 hours · 2.3 km, about 8 minutes
The furthest on the list and the most obviously set up for a whole evening: food, beer, music and tables in one place. Precisely because of the beer, read section 7 before you ride there.
3. NEW Hoi An Billiards
Listed on Maps only by its plus code, V8MC+W4G, north of the Old Town near Hung Vuong · +84 903 508 655 · Google 5.0 from 60 reviews · no hours listed · 1.4 km, about 4 minutes
A perfect score on a meaningful number of reviews. With no street number, search the name in Maps or ask for a location pin. A second listing, “Billiards Coffee NEW Hoi An” (V8VC+72C, 5.0 from 8 reviews), has a near-identical name; call the number above to check which one you want.
4. FOX Billiards Coffee and Tea
Le Hong Phong street · +84 787 577 857 · Google 4.7 from 52 reviews · open 24 hours · 1.3 km, about 4 minutes
Joint closest to the shop, and the obvious pick if you are not drinking: it bills itself as a coffee and tea place. Open through the night.
5. Viet Carom Billiards
03 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoi An Tay ward · +84 905 667 732 · Google 4.4 from 30 reviews · 1.3 km, about 6 minutes
Older guides put this hall at 194 Pham Ngu Lao. The phone number is the same, but the Maps listing now sits at 03 Dinh Tien Hoang. The name tells you it leans to carom.
6. Bida Hoi An, 55 Thich Quang Duc
55 Thich Quang Duc, Hoi An Tay ward · +84 914 404 364 · Google 4.6 from 7 reviews · closes 10 pm · 1.5 km, about 6 minutes
A small hall with few reviews and the earliest closing time on the list. Better for an afternoon or early evening game.
7. Top Win Billiards
33 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Hoi An Dong ward · +84 932 533 162 · Google 4.0 from 4 reviews · open 24 hours · 1.4 km, about 6 minutes
Few reviews, but open all night: the backup when FOX and The 1984 are full.
Also listed: Bida Minh Nhu Club at 1 Xuan Dieu (+84 905 081 499, 4.8 from 4 reviews) and Clb Bida Pro on Phan Dinh Phung (+84 982 484 840, 5.0 from 2 reviews). Both have too few reviews to rank.
What has changed
Viet Carom has moved. Guides from 2021 give 194 Pham Ngu Lao; Google Maps now shows 03 Dinh Tien Hoang, same number. Clb Bida Van Hoang still has a listing at 127 Ly Thai To (0235 3923 299), but only 2.5 stars from 2 reviews and no opening hours, so it is off our main list. Older posts ranked it first; call before you go.
The addresses have changed too, without anything moving. On 1 July 2025 Hoi An stopped being a city and was split into new wards inside Da Nang, including Hoi An Dong and Hoi An Tay. Maps addresses now end “Hoi An Dong, Da Nang” or “Hoi An Tay, Da Nang”. Same streets, same numbers, new suffix; if a taxi app shows “Da Nang”, it has not sent you to the wrong city.
Billiards prices in Hoi An, and what to ask
None of the halls publishes a price list on Maps or a website, and we have not phoned all seven, so this guide gives no figures rather than guessed ones. Billiards in Hoi An is usually charged per table per hour, and the rate can differ between pool and carom tables and between quiet and busy hours.
Ask three things before you start, and there are no surprises when you pay:
- What is the hourly table rate, and is pool different from carom?
- Is there a minimum, such as a full hour or a drink per person?
- Are drinks extra, or included with table time?
Small habit, saves arguments. Note the time, or take a screenshot of your phone clock, when you start. Having your own start time makes the conversation at the counter easy.
Riding there: parking and locking up
Walking is realistic too. Google Maps puts FOX about 15 minutes on foot from our shop and NEW Hoi An Billiards about 17, so if you are staying in or near the Old Town you can leave the bike at the hotel and stroll there. For the halls on Cua Dai road, a scooter or a Grab makes more sense.
None of the halls is inside the Old Town’s vehicle-free streets, so you can ride right to the door. When you arrive, ask the staff where to leave the bike before you go in.
- Lock the steering and take the key, even if the bike is right outside and you can see it from your table.
- Leave nothing in the seat box or basket: phone, wallet and a good helmet come inside with you.
- Ask about overnight parking if you plan to stay late and walk or Grab home. Do not leave a rental bike on the street until morning.
Drinking and riding: the rule
This is the part we most want you to read. Vietnam’s limit for riding a motorbike is zero: one beer puts you over it. Fines for drink-riding are heavy, come with your licence suspended and the bike impounded, and police check at night, not only in the big cities. Travel insurance will not cover an accident when you were drinking.
- If you plan to drink, do not ride there. Take a Grab or a taxi, or walk if you are staying close.
- If you rode and then drank, leave the bike where the hall allows and collect it in the morning.
Our guide to riding safely in Hoi An covers night riding in more detail.
Fitting pool into a Hoi An evening
Pool is a late-night thing. Before that, the Old Town has plenty within a few hundred metres: dinner, a walk along the Hoai River when the lanterns come on, the Nguyen Hoang night market. After 9 pm, when the walking streets start to empty, ride out to one of the halls on the edge of town.
Staying out at An Bang or Cua Dai beach? Bida Anh Vu and The 1984 are both on Cua Dai road, the road you take back towards the beach from town, so either makes a natural last stop on the way home, provided whoever is riding has stuck to soft drinks.
Our Hoi An at night guide covers the rest of the evening, and the best bars in the Old Town are the place to start if you want a drink first and are walking home. For the rules of pool and carom, Wikipedia’s cue sports page is a good start.
Renting a bike for the evening
Every hall on this list is under 2.5 km from our shop, which is well within range of an e-bike or electric scooter. They are quiet in the lanes late at night and you never need a petrol station at midnight.
