Beach Festivals Near Hoi An: the Summer 2026 Calendar and How to Ride There

Every summer the beach festivals near Hoi An run from late May to the end of July. Here is what happened in 2026, the real dates, and the measured ride to each one.

🎆 DIFF: 6 nights, May 30 – Jul 11🪁 Tam Thanh: 46.9 km🎤 Hoiana: 12.2 km🌺 Cu Lao Cham: July

If you are reading this in autumn, the 2026 summer season has already wrapped — so treat this page as two things at once: a record of what actually ran along the coast this year, and a calendar for planning next summer, because almost every one of these events repeats in the same window. We rent bikes from a shop on Phan Chau Trinh Street, so the angle here is simple: which beach festivals near Hoi An are worth the ride, how far each one really is, and how to get home safely after the music stops.

Beach festivals near Hoi An at a glance

Since the July 2025 merger, Hoi An and the old Quang Nam province sit inside Da Nang City, and the city now markets one long summer program for the whole coast. That is useful for you: the events are spread across 70-odd kilometres of shoreline, but the busiest weeks overlap, so a few well-planned rides can cover most of the season. The table below is the 2026 line-up with distances we measured on Google Maps from the old town.

Cu Lao Cham flower festivalJul 7–31 (main days Jul 18–31)Cu Lao Cham island8.6 km to Cua Dai pier + boatDay trip, island sports

Two things stand out once you lay it out like this. First, the last week of June is the sweet spot: in 2026 you could have seen Tam Thanh, the Hoiana concert and a DIFF night inside four days. Second, most of the headline beach festivals near Hoi An are not in Hoi An at all — they are a ride away in either direction, which is exactly why having your own wheels matters more in summer than any other season. For what is on inside the old town itself, our Hoi An festival calendar covers the lantern nights and the lunar holidays.

Heads-up: we do not organise or sell tickets for any of these events. Dates and programmes below come from the organisers and the Da Nang tourism portal; always check the official page in the week before you go, because stage times move.

Tam Thanh Beach Festival

The Tam Thanh Beach Festival is the most local of the summer events and, for us, the most fun. The 2026 edition ran from June 25 to 28 under the theme “Tam Thanh – the blue sea calls”, organised by the Quang Phu ward People’s Committee with the Da Nang culture and tourism department. It sits on the long, quiet beach east of Tam Ky, with the Truong Giang River running just behind the sand — so the programme uses both water fronts.

According to the Da Nang Newspaper report, this year’s line-up included kite-flying displays, kayaking on the Truong Giang, sand sculpture, traditional games, a painting contest themed “Tam Thanh – the sea tells stories”, and a sea-swimming race with more than 200 swimmers. The last day fell on Vietnamese Family Day (June 28), which sets the tone: this is a festival for local families as much as for tourists, with fresh seafood and stalls selling OCOP products from the surrounding villages. None of the organiser reports mention a ticket for the beach area.

Painted lane leading to the sea in Tam Thanh, one of the beach festivals near Hoi An
A painted lane in Tam Thanh mural village runs straight onto the beach — the festival ground is a few minutes’ walk along the sand.

Why ride 47 km for it? Because the ride is half the point. The fastest route runs down the Vo Chi Cong coast road, flat and wide and running parallel to the sea most of the way. Tam Thanh is also home to the Tam Thanh mural village, the fishing hamlet famous for its painted walls, so you can combine the festival with an hour of wandering the lanes before the evening programme starts.

Practical notes: leave Hoi An by mid-afternoon so you still have daylight for the lanes of the mural village, and fill up in Hoi An — petrol stations thin out along the coast road. Our measured time was about 57 minutes one way, 46.9 km, with a slightly longer 47.6 km option via Thanh Nien Street if you want to stay closer to the sea.

D’Hoi Summer Fest at Hoiana

At the opposite end of the mood scale, the integrated resort at Hoiana put on its first D’Hoi Summer Fest on June 26, 2026, on its private beachfront in Duy Nghia commune. It was a full-scale beach concert, with a line-up of SOOBIN, Tang Duy Tan, Hoang Dung, GREY D, My Anh, the rock band Chillies and DJ 2Pillz, according to the official Hoiana event page.

If you are not into Vietnamese pop, the artist list will mean little — but for Vietnamese fans it was one of the headline line-ups of the summer. For foreign visitors, a show like this is a rare chance to see what a Vietnamese summer concert feels like — big sing-along choruses and a crowd that knows every word.

It is also the easiest of the beach festivals near Hoi An to reach: 12.2 km and about 23 minutes from the old town via Tran Nhan Tong and Vo Chi Cong. That short distance makes it the one event where an electric scooter is a sensible choice — ride down, park, ride home on a quiet road with no hills. Park where the event staff direct you rather than on the shoulder of Vo Chi Cong, which is dark and fast at night.

Summer on this coast is not one festival, it is a string of them — and the string only holds together if you can move between them on your own schedule.

DIFF: the Da Nang fireworks festival

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) is the headline act of the season and the reason many domestic tourists book the coast in June. The 2026 edition, themed “Da Nang – United Horizons”, ran over six Saturday nights on the Han River from May 30 to July 11, with ten teams from nine countries, per the official announcement:

Portugal’s Macedos Pirotecnia, which had stood out in the qualifying round with a scene of a Vietnamese village’s bamboo hedges set to local music, won the final on July 11; China’s Jiangxi Yangfeng came second, as VnExpress reported. The winner took home US$20,000. The same report noted that the final crowd was so big that the bridges over the Han were jammed long after the last shell.

Dragon Bridge over the Han River in Da Nang, near the DIFF fireworks stands
Dragon Bridge by day. On DIFF nights the grandstands sit on the east bank a short walk upriver, and the bridge itself becomes a free (and very crowded) viewing spot.

Grandstand seats are on the east bank along Tran Hung Dao Street, facing the launch barges. Ticket agents listed 2026 prices from about 1,000,000₫ for back sections on qualifying nights to 4,000,000₫ for the central VVIP stand on the opening and final nights (roughly US$40–155). Each night runs from about 8 pm, with two teams performing roughly 20 minutes each. Plenty of people skip the stands and watch from the riverbank, from Dragon Bridge or from rooftop bars — the sky is big enough.

The local trick most guides miss: the grandstands are on the east bank, and so is the whole road home to Hoi An. Coming from Hoi An you ride up Lac Long Quan and Truong Sa, park on the east side, and never need to cross a bridge. After the show, when the Dragon and Tran Thi Ly bridges are gridlocked, you simply head back south along the coast. It is the difference between getting home at 11 pm and at 1 am.

Enjoy Danang Festival on the beach

The Enjoy Danang Festival 2026 ran from July 22 to 26 under the slogan “Feel – Enjoy – Explore”, and it is the one that most resembles a classic beach festival: everything happens on the sand. The official timeline listed a countryside-style food market and an opening ceremony at East Sea Park, a beach EDM stage on My Khe from 6 pm to 10:30 pm, an illuminated kite night on the north beach, a Night Beach Light Party, a SUP race around Son Tra, a barefoot sunrise run, and even a meditation evening at Linh Ung Pagoda.

My Khe Beach with Son Tra behind it. During Enjoy Danang the EDM stage went up on this stretch; outside festival week it is one of the best city swimming beaches in Vietnam.

Our favourite item on the programme was the smallest: “Wake up to the rhythm of the dawn fish market” at Man Thai Beach from 5 to 8 am on July 23–25. Man Thai is where the basket boats come in, and the market happens every morning anyway — the festival simply put a spotlight on it. If you are staying in Hoi An, leave before 4:30 am, ride up an empty coast road as the sky turns pink, and you will have seen the best thing Da Nang does before most tourists are awake.

East Sea Park is 25.5 km from the old town, about 46 minutes via Lac Long Quan. For more on the beach itself, see our My Khe Beach guide, and if your trip overlaps the film season, the DANAFF film festival guide covers the city’s other big summer event.

Cu Lao Cham red flower festival

The island festival is easy to overlook because it is not on the mainland at all. The 2026 festival “Cu Lao Cham – the season of red ngo dong flowers” ran from July 7 to 31, with its concentrated activities between July 18 and 31 and the opening night on July 24, according to Nhan Dan. The timing follows the flowers: from mid-July into August the ngo dong trees turn whole hillsides on the island red.

The programme mixed island culture and beach sport — boat races, swimming contests, beach volleyball, local crafts and cuisine, and evening shows about sea life. Cu Lao Cham is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and, since the 2025 reorganisation, forms Tan Hiep commune — one of the four wards and communes that replaced Hoi An city.

A cove on Cu Lao Cham. The island festival spreads across beaches like this one — go on a weekday and you will have most of the sand to yourself.

You cannot ride to the island, but you can ride to the boat: Cua Dai pier is 8.6 km and about 22 minutes from the old town. Park at the pier, take the speedboat over, and ride home in the afternoon. Our Cham Islands guide has boat options and what to bring. Sea conditions decide everything here: if the port authority stops boats because of wind, the island programme goes on without you, so keep a backup day.

Riding to beach festivals near Hoi An and back at night

These events are spread along the coast in both directions, and public transport between them is thin at night — the last buses leave long before the fireworks end, and ride-hailing prices surge the moment a crowd pours out of a venue. That is why a motorbike rental in Hoi An is the backbone of a summer festival trip: you leave when you want, stop for seafood on the way, and ride home before the crowd has even found its taxis.

Which bike for which festival:

Cua Dai pier (island festival)~17 kmElectric scooter or automaticShort hop, bike waits at the pier
DIFF / Enjoy Danang~55 kmAutomatic petrol scooterNight traffic, parking crowds
Tam Thanh~94 kmPetrol scooter or semi-automaticLong coast road, few charging points

Five rules that keep a festival night easy:

  • Park in a paid lot, not on the pavement. Around DIFF and East Sea Park, attendants charge a few thousand dong and give you a ticket — keep it, you need it to get the bike back. Photograph the lot sign so you can find it in the dark.
  • Don’t drink and ride. Vietnam has a zero alcohol limit for motorbike riders and police run alcohol checks, especially on busy nights. If you plan to drink, take a car home and collect the bike next day.
  • Fill up before you leave Hoi An. Stations near the venues get queues, and the coast road south to Tam Thanh has long empty stretches.
  • Wear the helmet, clip it. Night checks focus on helmets and licences; a proper helmet comes with every rental.
  • Ride home on the coast road. Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Sa and Lac Long Quan are wide, lit and straight — the easiest night route back from Da Nang.

If you are not confident about licences, read our note on Hoi An in peak summer before you plan long rides, and between festivals, the local beaches are closer than any of the venues above: An Bang Beach is only a short ride from the old town and quietest in the early morning.

Planning for summer 2027

None of the 2027 dates are out yet, so plan on the 2026 shape and confirm later. DIFF ran on Saturday nights from the end of May into July. The Tam Thanh festival took the last week of June. Enjoy Danang came in late July, and the Cu Lao Cham flower festival follows the bloom, which starts in mid-July. Hoiana has not confirmed whether D’Hoi becomes annual, so treat it as a maybe.

What that means for booking: if you want to catch the most events in one stay, aim for the last week of June — that is when 2026 packed a fireworks night, a village beach festival and a beach concert into the same four days. If you prefer to skip the fireworks crowds, late July gives you Enjoy Danang and the island festival instead. Da Nang riverside hotels fill up fast on DIFF Saturdays; staying in Hoi An and riding up keeps you out of that scramble.

Where to watch for dates: the Da Nang tourism portal Danang Fantasticity is where the city programme appears first. We update this page when the 2027 line-up is announced.

FAQ

When are the beach festivals near Hoi An held?

They cluster between late May and the end of July. In 2026 the season ran from the first DIFF fireworks night on May 30 to the end of the Cu Lao Cham flower festival on July 31, with the busiest stretch in the last week of June.

How far is Tam Thanh Beach Festival from Hoi An?

46.9 km from the old town, about 57 minutes by motorbike via the Vo Chi Cong coast road, measured on Google Maps. The 2026 festival ran from June 25 to 28, and the organiser reports mention no entry ticket for the beach area.

Who won the Da Nang fireworks festival in 2026?

Macedos Pirotecnia from Portugal won the DIFF 2026 final on July 11, with Jiangxi Yangfeng from China in second place. The winning team received US$20,000.

Can I ride a motorbike from Hoi An to the DIFF fireworks?

Yes. The grandstands are on Tran Hung Dao Street on the east bank of the Han River, about 27 km and 46 minutes from Hoi An. Because the road from Hoi An also runs up the east side, you can park and ride home along the coast without crossing the crowded bridges.

Is an electric scooter enough for these festivals?

For short trips such as Hoiana (12.2 km) or Cua Dai pier (8.6 km), yes. For Da Nang at night or the 94 km round trip to Tam Thanh, a petrol scooter is the safer choice because of range and the lack of charging points along the coast road.

Does Anh Khoa sell festival tickets?

No. We rent motorbikes, electric scooters and bicycles with hotel delivery in Hoi An. DIFF grandstand tickets are sold by the organisers and their agents, and resort events such as the Hoiana concert are handled by the resort itself; we can only help you get there.

Are the 2027 festival dates announced yet?

Not yet. If 2027 follows the 2026 pattern, expect DIFF from late May into July, Tam Thanh in late June and Enjoy Danang in late July. Check the Da Nang tourism portal for confirmed dates.

Also on the coast: Ha My Beach, a quiet stretch north of An Bang for the morning after a late festival night.

Updated September 2026. Event dates and programmes come from the organisers, Da Nang Newspaper, Nhan Dan, VnExpress and the Da Nang tourism portal. Distances and times were measured with Google Maps directions from Hoi An old town to each venue (Tam Thanh Beach Resort area, Hoiana Resort, Cua Dai port, East Sea Park); DIFF ticket prices are as listed by ticket agents in 2026. Anh Khoa Hoi An does not organise or sell tickets for any event on this page.
