Quang Ngai Motorbike Rental: 5 Shops Checked on Google Maps, Prices and Rides (2026)

Quang Ngai is not a rental town. It is a provincial capital with one big shop, a couple of small ones, and a station where the bike can be waiting when the train pulls in.

We rent bikes 116 km up the coast in Hoi An, and Quang Ngai is the first southern stop our riders ask about, usually because of Ly Son island. We do not have a branch there, so nothing below is our own fleet. In November 2026 we looked up every shop named in older guides, including the previous version of this page, on Google Maps, and measured the rides from Quang Ngai station.

The honest result is shorter than the usual “10 best” list. Most of those names do not exist as findable shops. What does exist is one well-established rental business with four listings, one smaller family shop, a newer place east of the centre, and a couple of options on Ly Son itself. For a Quang Ngai motorbike rental, that is plenty.

Quick pick: where to get a Quang Ngai motorbike rental

With so few shops, the choice is mostly about how you arrive and whether you are heading for Ly Son.

Quang Ngai motorbike rental prices in 2026

Only one shop publishes its prices, so that is the list we use: Xuan Hau’s own website, checked on 2 November 2026. Rates drop the longer you keep the bike.

Two details from the same page that older guides never mention. A day is 24 hours, and late return is charged at 20,000₫ an hour. And the Dat Bike is a Vietnamese-made electric motorbike, not a 50cc e-scooter; the price includes 180 km of riding, which covers a return trip to Sa Ky with room to spare.

Ratings, review counts, opening hours, addresses and phone numbers are what Google Maps showed on 2 November 2026. The phone number is almost always the shop’s Zalo as well, and Zalo is faster than calling.

This is the Quang Ngai rental business. No other listing in the province comes within a thousand reviews of the main shop. It is also the only one with a published price list and an electric option. Arriving by train, message the station listing with your arrival time and the bike can be there when you step off.

The “Mrs No” of older guides, and the only name from those lists whose phone number still matches a real listing. A smaller family shop. A separate listing called “No motorbike” on Nguyen Thong uses a different number (0776 754 362, 8 reviews), so check which one you are talking to.

Listed on Maps as a motorbike rental as well as a homestay, by the harbour. Renting on the island means no bike on the ferry.

A dedicated island rental listing with no track record yet. Most Ly Son homestays will also find you a scooter if you ask when you book the room.

In the city, hotels are the sixth option. Most will arrange a bike through a shop they know, usually for a little more than going direct.

What we dropped, and why

We also removed the vaguer entries that padded the old list to ten: “online booking”, “student rentals” and “Da Nang delivery”. They were categories, not shops, and none came with a name you could message. The previous version also pointed riders at three Hoi An rental companies for one-way trips; that has nothing to do with renting in Quang Ngai, so it is gone too.

How to rent a motorbike in Quang Ngai, and what to check

1. Message first. Send your dates, the bike you want and where you are staying, or your train time. Ask for one all-in price including helmets and delivery.
2. Agree the deposit. Expect a cash deposit or a copy of your ID or passport. Keep your original passport: hotels need it, and so does the Ly Son ferry.
3. Check the bike before you pay. Brakes, both tyres, lights, indicators, horn and the fuel gauge.
4. Film it. Thirty seconds of video walking round the bike, close on existing scratches.
5. Save the number. If the bike fails through no fault of yours, call the shop before paying anyone to fix it.

Licence and the law for a Quang Ngai motorbike rental

• What counts: your home licence plus an International Driving Permit under the 1968 Vienna Convention, with the motorcycle category stamped. The 1949 Geneva permit is not recognised. Our IDP 1968 guide has the country-by-country check.
• Bike size: since 1 January 2025 an A1 licence covers motorcycles up to 125cc (or 11 kW electric). The Wave Alpha, Vision and Lead sit inside that; a 150cc or 160cc Air Blade needs a full A licence.
• No licence: under-50cc scooters can be ridden without one by anyone 16 or over. Xuan Hau lists a 50cc option for exactly that reason.
• The fine: riding a bike up to 125cc without a valid licence costs 2–4 million₫, and the bike can be held.
• No exceptions: helmet on and strapped, and zero alcohol.

Most travel insurance will not pay for a motorbike accident if you were not licensed for the bike. Check your policy before the Ly Son trip, not after.

Rides from Quang Ngai, measured

We measured every distance on Google Maps from Quang Ngai station, taking the fastest route offered. Several are further than older guides say: Thien An was given as 5 km and is 8.5 km from the station, and Son My, often quoted at 12 km from the city centre, is 15.3 km from the station.

The obvious half-day loop is Son My in the morning, My Khe beach next door, then Ba Lang An for the cliffs. It stays off the highway almost entirely and finishes back in town by lunch.

Ly Son: take the bike, or rent on the island?

Ly Son is reached by high-speed ferry from Sa Ky port, 23.1 km from Quang Ngai station. The tourist fare moved twice in 2026: operators raised it from 207,000₫ to 237,000₫ in March, the provincial Department of Construction pushed back, and one operator then cut its ticket by 10,000₫. For most people the answer is to leave the city bike at home. Ride to Sa Ky in the morning, leave the bike where your shop tells you to (ask before you set off), cross on foot, and rent a scooter at the harbour or through your homestay. The island is small, the roads are short, and you avoid paying to ship a bike both ways.

Coming down from Hoi An, and what changed in 2025

Quang Ngai station is 116 km from Hoi An’s Japanese Bridge and 148 km from the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang by the fastest car routes, both of which use the expressway. Motorbikes are not allowed on it, so on two wheels you follow QL1A or the coast roads through Tam Ky, and it takes longer. The train is the easy alternative: Quang Ngai is the one southern stop where the station is in the city, and a bike can meet you there.

Our one-way drops from Hoi An run to Da Nang and Hue only, not to Quang Ngai. Ride a Hoi An bike as a round trip, or come down by train or limousine van and rent locally.

The province got bigger. On 1 July 2025 Kon Tum, up in the Central Highlands, was merged into Quang Ngai, which kept its name.
