LIVING IN HOI AN · SPORT · UPDATED AUGUST 2026
Two years ago there was almost nowhere to play pickleball in Hoi An. Today there are at least ten courts — including a six-court indoor complex, several covered outdoor clubs, a resort court, and a place with the town’s first automatic ball machine. Better still, the scene here is unusually welcoming to visitors: most clubs run social play sessions where you turn up alone, borrow a paddle, and get put into games. This guide lists every court in Hoi An with addresses, phone numbers and current prices, sorted so you can find the right one fast.

№ 02Indoor and fully covered courts
Hoi An gets fierce midday sun from April to August and steady rain from October to December. Covered courts are not a luxury here — they are what lets you book a game and actually play it.

Thuy Loi Pickleball — 24 Phan Ba Phien, Tan An · 090 593 69 27
The town’s first indoor complex and still the biggest: six international-standard courts under one roof, cushioned flooring, evenly spread LED lighting, changing rooms and parking. Paddles and balls for hire at the counter, and a lively regular crowd running mini-tournaments. Books out fast in the evenings and at weekends — call ahead.
The ClubHouse Pickleball — 20 Ba Trieu · 0932 500 268
Four indoor courts with a specialist grippy surface, anti-glare LED lighting, clean showers and separate rest area. The detail visitors care about: paddles and balls are free to borrow, and parking for both bikes and cars is free too. Court hire runs 100,000–200,000₫/hour depending on the slot. The most polished setup in town.
Pickleball Thanh Ha — 130 Nguyen Du, Thanh Ha · 0983 668 705
Fully roofed, non-slip cushioned surface, night lighting and its own car park, close to the centre. The distinguishing feature is a proper coaching programme for children aged 5 to 17 with qualified instructors — worth knowing if you are here as a family.
Hot Kitchen Pickleball — 211 Ly Thai To · 0907 888 852
Three competition-sized courts with retractable roofing, lightly textured surface for grip, anti-glare LEDs for night play, plus showers and a drinks counter. Runs frequent Social Pickleball evenings that mix locals and visitors — one of the easiest places to get into a game as a newcomer.
№ 03Social clubs, cafés and lakeside courts
These are the places where pickleball is as much about the people as the score — and where a solo traveller has the best chance of ending up in a game.

Pickleball Ca Ri Club — 17 Trang Keo 1 · 0912 401 379
Built entirely around the social play model: you book a time slot rather than a court, then rotate into games with whoever is there. Wide, airy space with light roofing, natural daylight and good evening lighting. Flexible slots, reasonable prices, and a strong following among foreign residents. If you are travelling alone and want a game tonight, start here.
Lakeside Corner – F1 Pickleball — 38 Bo Ho 1, Trang Keo 4 · 0909 169 036
A sports-and-leisure complex beside a lake, with a small café and food area next to the courts. Regularly hosts friendly tournaments for the foreign community in Hoi An and runs beginner courses. Paddles and balls for hire. Early morning and late afternoon by the water are the pick of the day.
Summit Hoi An Pickleball Club — 96A Tran Hung Dao, Minh An · 0905 747 900
Cushioned acrylic surface set in a green compound, with a garden café right beside the court for coffee or a juice afterwards. Hires out paddles, balls and a ball machine, and runs classes from beginner to advanced on a flexible timetable. Own car park. The most comfortable place to spend a whole morning.
Poon Poon Pickleball — 155 Nguyen Duy Hieu · 0932 529 292
Young, energetic feel with a leafy garden café attached. Well-built non-slip surface, generous space, proper night lighting. Frequently runs community tournaments and social sessions that pull in a mix of young locals and international players.
№ 04Resort and premium courts
Silk Sense Premier Pickleball Court — 01 Nguyen Thanh Y · 0775 914 166
Inside Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort: premium acrylic surface, non-slip, surrounded by greenery. Resort guests play free and get basic coaching included in set time slots — a rare perk among upmarket hotels here. Non-guests can book through reception at a reasonable rate, with equipment, water and towels provided.
Pickleball Hoi An — 122 Ly Thuong Kiet, Son Phong · 094 791 91 52
One of the pioneers, and still the address for serious practice: it has the first automatic ball machine in Hoi An, ideal for drilling reflexes, footwork and technique whether you are learning or refining. Spacious, regularly resurfaced, well lit for evening sessions. Ball machine hire 120,000–180,000₫/hour. Flexible hourly booking.
№ 05Never played? Start here
Pickleball is the easiest racquet sport to pick up — most people are rallying within twenty minutes. That is exactly why it has spread through Hoi An so quickly, and why turning up as a complete beginner is normal rather than awkward.

- The court is small. Roughly a badminton court, played with a solid paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Far less running than tennis, which is why it works for all ages.
- Doubles is the default. Four players, one ball, lots of talking. You do not need to be fit or fast to be useful.
- Book a lesson for your first hour. Summit runs classes from beginner upward, Lakeside Corner does beginner courses, and Silk Sense includes basic coaching for guests. One hour of coaching saves a month of bad habits.
- Or drill alone. If you would rather not play with strangers on day one, the ball machine at Pickleball Hoi An lets you learn the swing in private.
- Bringing kids? Pickleball Thanh Ha runs structured coaching for ages 5 to 17 — a genuinely useful option on a family holiday.
№ 06How to join a social session as a visitor
This is the part nobody writes down, and the reason many travellers never play here even though they want to.

1. Message the club on Facebook, not email. Every court in Hoi An runs its schedule through a Facebook page, and replies come in minutes. Ask two things: when the next social session is, and whether they have a spare paddle.
2. Say you are a visitor and give your level. “Complete beginner” is a perfectly good answer — organisers use it to slot you into the right games. Nobody expects a rating.
3. Turn up alone. That is normal. Social play exists precisely so that people without a partner can play. You rotate through games with different partners, usually a few points at a time.
4. Arrive fifteen minutes early. Enough time to pay, borrow a paddle and be introduced before the rotation starts.
5. Expect a mix. Vietnamese regulars, long-stay foreigners and tourists all play together here, and English gets you through fine. This is one of the friendliest ways to meet people in Hoi An that has nothing to do with a bar.
№ 07Prices, paddles and what to bring
- Court hire: generally 80,000–120,000₫ per hour depending on the time slot; premium indoor courts such as The ClubHouse run 100,000–200,000₫. Evenings and weekends cost more than mornings.
- Ball machine: around 120,000–180,000₫ per hour where available.
- Paddles: most clubs hire them out; The ClubHouse lends paddles and balls free. You do not need to buy equipment to try the sport.
- Shoes matter more than the paddle. Court shoes with lateral grip — running shoes roll your ankle on the side-to-side movement. This is the one thing worth bringing.
- Bring water and a towel. Even in covered courts, an hour in Hoi An humidity is a serious workout.
- Best playing hours: before 08:00 or after 16:30 from April to August. Indoor courts are comfortable at any hour.
- Payment: cash or bank transfer; card is rarely accepted at the smaller clubs.
On the prices above: these are the published 2026 rates from local listings and club pages, and they shift with peak hours, promotions and season. Message the club before you ride over — schedules for social sessions in particular change week to week.
№ 08Where the courts are and getting to them
Here is the practical catch: almost none of these courts are within walking distance of the Old Town. They sit in the residential belt around it — Tan An, Thanh Ha, Trang Keo, Son Phong, Cam Chau. That is why the pickleball crowd in Hoi An is overwhelmingly a two-wheeled crowd.
- Closest to the Old Town: Summit Club (Minh An) and Pickleball Hoi An (Son Phong) — 3–5 minutes.
- Tan An / Ba Trieu: Thuy Loi and The ClubHouse, around 5 minutes.
- North side towards An Bang: Ca Ri Club and Lakeside Corner in Trang Keo, 7–10 minutes.
- Thanh Ha side: Pickleball Thanh Ha on Nguyen Du, about 6 minutes.
- Parking: free on site at nearly every club — several advertise it specifically.
Playing three or four times a week — which is what tends to happen once you start — makes a monthly rental far cheaper than daily hire or taxis. Foreign riders should note a petrol scooter legally needs a licence plus a 1968-convention IDP; see our IDP guide. Electric scooters need no licence, which is what most long-stayers here ride. If you are also looking for a weights room, we have a companion guide to gyms in Hoi An. Vietnamese readers: bản tiếng Việt ở đây.
Two years ago nobody here had heard of it. Now our customers ask where the courts are before they ask where the beach is.

FAQPickleball in Hoi An — your questions
How much does it cost to play pickleball in Hoi An?
Court hire generally costs 80,000 to 120,000 VND per hour depending on the time slot, while premium indoor courts such as The ClubHouse charge 100,000 to 200,000 VND per hour. Hiring a ball machine costs around 120,000 to 180,000 VND per hour. Evenings and weekends are more expensive than mornings.
Can I play pickleball in Hoi An without a partner?
Yes. Several clubs run social play sessions where you book a time slot rather than a court and rotate into games with whoever is there. Ca Ri Club is built around this model and Hot Kitchen runs regular Social Pickleball evenings. Message the club on Facebook, say you are visiting and give your level, then turn up about fifteen minutes early.
Are there indoor pickleball courts in Hoi An?
Yes. Thuy Loi Pickleball at 24 Phan Ba Phien in Tan An has six indoor courts and The ClubHouse at 20 Ba Trieu has four. Pickleball Thanh Ha is fully roofed and Hot Kitchen has retractable roofing. Covered courts matter here because of strong midday sun from April to August and heavy rain from October to December.
Do I need to bring my own paddle?
No. Most clubs in Hoi An hire out paddles and balls, and The ClubHouse lends them free of charge. What is worth bringing is proper court shoes with lateral grip, because running shoes are risky on the side-to-side movement pickleball involves.
Where can a complete beginner learn pickleball in Hoi An?
Summit Hoi An Pickleball Club runs classes from beginner to advanced, Lakeside Corner offers beginner courses, and Silk Sense includes basic coaching for resort guests. If you would rather practise alone first, Pickleball Hoi An at 122 Ly Thuong Kiet has the first automatic ball machine in town.
Is there pickleball coaching for children in Hoi An?
Yes. Pickleball Thanh Ha at 130 Nguyen Du runs a structured coaching programme for children aged 5 to 17 with qualified instructors, focused on physical development, reflexes and teamwork.
How do I get to the pickleball courts in Hoi An?
Almost none of the courts are within walking distance of the Old Town, as they sit in the surrounding residential areas of Tan An, Thanh Ha, Trang Keo and Son Phong. Most are 3 to 10 minutes away by scooter or bicycle, and nearly every club offers free parking on site.
