№ 02Booking & Delivery
Do I need to book a motorbike in advance?
Not mandatory, but highly recommended to secure your preferred bike — especially in peak season (Feb–Apr and Jun–Aug). Booking a day ahead also unlocks our online discount.
Can I book online or do I need to call?
Both work: book directly on hoianit.com, or message us on WhatsApp, Zalo or Facebook. Online bookings are confirmed within minutes.
Can I pay online when booking?
Yes — bank transfer and e-wallets (MoMo, PayPal) are accepted for online payment. You can also simply pay on delivery.
Do you deliver bikes to hotels or homestays?
Yes — delivery and pick-up anywhere in Hoi An city center is completely free. A small fee applies outside the center (An Bang, Da Nang, Hue…).
Do you deliver to Da Nang Airport or Hue?
Yes, with an additional delivery fee — popular for one-way trips. Tell us your flight or train time and the bike is waiting when you land.
Do you offer one-way rentals (Hoi An – Hue / Da Nang)?
Yes, three routes: Hoi An → Hue, Hue → Hoi An and Hoi An → Da Nang — ideal for the Hai Van Pass. The one-way fee is included in the listed price, your first 2 bags transfer between cities free (50K per extra bag), and the Hue office is at 201 Tran Phu St. No licence? The Hue route has a 50cc option too.
Can I change the delivery time or location after booking?
Yes — just message us at least 1 hour in advance and we’ll re-arrange.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Cancellation is free up to 12 hours before pick-up. Last-minute cancellations may incur a small preparation fee.

How much does it cost to rent a motorbike in Hoi An?

Do you offer discounts for long-term rentals?
Yes: 10% off for 7 days, 15% off for 14 days, and up to 30% off for monthly rentals.
Do you accept credit cards (Visa/MasterCard)?
Yes — cards (3% surcharge), cash and bank transfers are all fine.
Any promotions for online booking?
Yes — up to 20% off when you book directly on our website at least 1 day ahead.
Do I need to leave a deposit or my passport?
Only a photo of your passport/ID — we never keep your original passport. Some premium bikes may require a small deposit.
Can I pay in USD or EUR?
Yes, we accept major foreign currencies at the current exchange rate.

How is rental time calculated?
1 day = 24 hours. Pick up at 10:00 today, return before 10:00 tomorrow.
What if I return the bike late?
Less than 2 hours late: half-day charge. Over 2 hours: full-day charge. Just message us if plans change — we’re flexible when we can be.
Is there a mileage limit?
No. Ride anywhere — Hoi An, Da Nang, the Hai Van Pass, Hue.
Is insurance included?
Optional motorbike insurance is available from 50K/day, covering both bike and rider.
What if I lose the key?
Tell us immediately. Replacement runs 100K for a normal key up to 800K for a smart key, depending on the model.
Can someone else ride the bike?
Yes, as long as they register their details with us too.
Do I need a driving licence to rent a motorbike?
For bikes 110cc and up: yes — a valid A-category motorbike licence plus an International Driving Permit (1968). No licence? Our 50cc bikes and electric bikes are in the no-licence class and legal for most visitors, with the same free helmets and delivery.
What documents do I need if stopped by the police?
We provide the bike registration (cavet copy), third-party insurance papers and a copy of your ID/passport — keep them under the seat.
Do you assist first-time riders?
Yes — our staff walk you through the bike before you ride, and if you want real practice, book a 1-on-1 driving lesson with an English-speaking instructor.

What types of bikes do you have?
Manual (Wave, Winner, XSR, WR155…), automatic scooters (Vision, Air Blade, NVX, PCX…), VinFast e-motorbikes, pedal-assist e-bicycles and regular bicycles — see the full fleet.
Are the bikes well-maintained?
Yes — every bike is serviced on schedule and checked again before each delivery.
Do bikes come with fuel?
Yes — petrol bikes come with 1L of fuel free (or a full tank on request).
Can I request a specific model?
Yes, choose your exact model when booking, subject to availability.
How many helmets are included?
2 quality helmets per bike; full-face helmets available on request.
Do you provide raincoats or accessories?
Yes — 2 raincoats and a phone holder are included free.
How do I charge e-bikes / e-motorbikes?
Charge overnight at your hotel (a normal wall socket, 5–7 hours), or swap batteries free at our office. We also offer a charging service — 50K per full charge — for any e-bike brand at 84 Phan Chau Trinh. More in our e-bike charging guide.

Rates below are ours, per day, fuel not included. Weekly and monthly bookings drop considerably — a month can run up to 30% under the daily rate.

Fuel is the only running cost. A 110cc scooter uses roughly 1.6 litres per 100 km, so a full day of riding around Hoi An costs 40,000–60,000₫ at the pump. Since 1 June 2026 the mineral RON 95 has been discontinued nationwide — every station now sells E10 RON 95, a 10% ethanol blend that all our bikes run on without modification.

This is the part people get wrong most often, so here it is in full. To ride anything above 50cc in Vietnam you need a Vietnamese licence, or an International Driving Permit issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention carried alongside your home licence.
Permits issued under the older 1949 Geneva Convention — which is what most permits from the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia are — are not valid in Vietnam. The ten-second test: open your IDP and look at the cover. If it says 1968 or Vienna, you are fine. If it says 1949 or Geneva, you are not.
Why it matters more than the fine: riding without a valid licence voids your travel insurance completely. A minor spill that would have been a claim becomes a hospital bill you pay yourself. The traffic fine is the small part.
- Check your IDP now, before you fly — the convention is printed on the cover.
- 1968 permit? Bring it with your home licence and ride anything in our fleet.
- 1949 permit, or none? Take the 50cc SYM Shark or an electric bike — neither requires a licence in Vietnam.
- Staying a while? A Vietnamese licence can be converted locally; ask and we will point you to the office.

We would rather put you on a 50cc you can legally ride than a 125cc that voids your insurance. It earns us less and saves everyone the conversation nobody wants to have.
