Since July 2025 the Hoi An to Da Nang bus is one line, route 02, at 8,000–30,000 VND. Grab, shared vans, private cars and the one-way scooter are priced below too, all checked in October 2026.
Quick answer: the Hoi An to Da Nang bus is now route 02, run by Phuong Trang (FUTA Bus Lines). On 18 July 2025 Da Nang merged the old LK02 (Hoi An to Viet Han University) with city route 02, so one bus now runs Cua Dai – Hoi An Bus Station – Marble Mountains – central Da Nang – Central Bus Station with no change at Viet Han University. It runs every 15–30 minutes from about 05:00 to 18:00 and costs 8,000–30,000 VND by distance, cash on board. Prefer your own wheels? Hoi An to Da Nang Bus Options at a Glance (2026)
Hoi An Ancient Town and central Da Nang are about 30 km apart. Since the July 2025 administrative merger Hoi An is officially part of Da Nang City, and the bus network was redrawn to match a few weeks later. Here is how every way between the two compares in 2026:

The bus is still the cheapest by a wide margin. What changed in 2025 is where it goes: it no longer stops at the edge of Da Nang. That matters if you are staying near the Han River, because the guidance you will find on older pages — “take a Grab out to Viet Han University and catch the LK02 there” — no longer applies.
Route 02: The Hoi An to Da Nang Bus Since July 2025
From 18 July 2025, Da Nang’s construction department merged two Phuong Trang services into one: city route 02 (Central Bus Station to Viet Han University) and the LK02 extension (Viet Han University to Cua Dai in Hoi An). The result is a single route 02, Central Bus Station – Cua Dai and back, 46.7 km long, with fares charged by distance from 8,000 to 30,000 VND. It is still operated by Phuong Trang (FUTA Bus Lines), and Hoi An locals still call it “the LK02” out of habit — same company, same Hoi An stops, but it now carries on into the city.
Route and main stops
Hoi An side (towards Da Nang):
- Cua Dai port car park — the Hoi An terminus, by the boats to the Cham Islands
- Au Co and Cua Dai Street, past the beach hotels
- Tran Nhan Tong and Ly Thuong Kiet Street — the Ly Thuong Kiet stops are the closest to the Ancient Town
- Hoi An Bus Station, then Nguyen Tat Thanh and road DT607 north through Dien Ban
Da Nang side:
- Viet Han University (VKU) bus station and Tran Dai Nghia — no change of bus here any more
- Le Van Hien, past the Marble Mountains, then Tien Son Bridge
- 2 September Street, Nguyen Van Linh and Tran Phu — the city centre, near the Han River
- Ly Thai Tong and Nam Tran to Da Nang Central Bus Station, the end of the line
The route changed, so do not trust old stop lists. Before July 2025 the Hoi An bus stopped at Viet Han University, about 10 km south of the Dragon Bridge, and you changed there for the city. Today the same bus crosses the centre on Tran Phu. If your hotel is downtown, look up the nearest route 02 stop in Google Maps rather than heading out to VKU.

Ticket price and how to pay
- Fare by distance: 8,000–30,000 VND one way. Hoi An to central Da Nang sits at the top of the band; a hop inside Hoi An or Dien Ban is at the bottom.
- Pay the conductor in cash on board. There are no online tickets for the public bus, so keep 10,000–50,000 notes ready.
- Backpacks and cabin-size cases are fine. Travellers report a small extra charge for a big suitcase on some buses — budget a few thousand dong more.
- Students pay a flat 8,000 VND, and children under 6 ride free on Phuong Trang routes.
Why Older Guides Still Say LK02 or Route 01
Search for the Hoi An to Da Nang bus and you get three different answers, because the line has changed twice in two years. Here is the order it happened in, so you can date whatever page you are reading:

That is why you will see “LK02 costs 8,000–15,000 VND” next to “the bus costs 35,000 VND”: the first is one half of the 2024 trip, the second was the planned full fare before the routes opened. Neither is the fare you pay today.
Route 01: plenty of hotel desks and forum posts still give a route 01 timetable (05:30–17:50, 20,000–35,000 VND). We could not find a 2026 timetable for it from Da Nang’s bus operator, so do not build a plan around it without confirming at the stop.
Grab, Shared Vans and Private Cars from Hoi An to Da Nang
Route 02 is the cheapest way across, not the only one. These are the three options most travellers weigh against the Hoi An to Da Nang bus, with what each cost when we checked in late October 2026 rather than numbers copied from older pages.
Grab: a fixed fare between the two towns
Grab runs Da Nang ⇄ Hoi An as a fixed-fare route: the app shows the one-way price before you confirm, and that price does not climb if the traffic is slow. Grab’s published 2026 route rate starts at about 280,000 VND for a 4-seat car, covering the first 25 km, then roughly 10,300 VND for each extra km. A 6-seat car starts at about 330,000 VND, plus about 14,300 VND a km. Tolls and airport fees are added on top. The Ancient Town to the Dragon Bridge is about 27 km on the coast road, so a 4-seater on that run comes to a little over 300,000 VND.
Why older pages say “250,000–450,000”: they mix metered taxis, hotel cars and Grab in one range. On this route Grab quotes a fixed one-way price, so what the app shows before you confirm is what you pay, plus tolls.
Shared vans and limousines
Nine-seat limousine vans shuttle between the two towns all day and drop you at an address rather than a roadside stop. On 12Go in late October 2026, shared van seats started from about 137,000 VND and bus seats from about 125,000 VND; the plusher limousines usually sit around 180,000–250,000 VND a seat. Each operator has its own Da Nang drop-off points, so ask which one is nearest your hotel before you book, because the wrong one adds a Grab ride at the end.
A private car
A whole car with a driver is the other end of the scale. 12Go listed private taxis between the two towns from about 312,000 VND one way in late October 2026, for up to four people with luggage; hotel desks often quote more, and the airport costs a little extra. For two people with bags it costs about the same as two van seats plus a taxi at the end, so it is usually the better deal for a pair. How to Ride the Hoi An to Da Nang Bus: Step by Step
First time on route 02? It works like this:
- Open Google Maps, set your destination and choose transit — route 02 stops show along Ly Thuong Kiet, Hoi An Bus Station and the DT607.
- Check the sign on the front of the bus: it shows 02 and the two ends, Ben xe Trung tam (Central Bus Station) and Cua Dai.
- Wave as it approaches. Drivers skip stops where nobody is waiting.
- Tell the conductor where you are going (“Da Nang”, “Marble Mountains” or your hotel street) and pay in cash. Keep the paper ticket.
- Follow your blue dot on the map and press the bell, or tell the conductor, a stop before yours.
Tip: save your hotel name and street in Vietnamese as a screenshot. Conductors are helpful, but few speak English.
Can You Take the Bus to Da Nang Airport?
Not directly. Route 02 crosses central Da Nang but does not go into the airport, so you would still need a short Grab ride to the terminal — fine with a day to spare, risky with a flight to catch and a suitcase. Pros and Cons of the Hoi An to Da Nang Bus
Advantages
- By far the cheapest way between the two — a Grab car costs ten times more
- One bus end to end since July 2025, no change at Viet Han University
- Frequent departures all day, nothing to book
- Air-conditioned buses and fares set by the city, not by the driver
Limitations
- Slow end to end — the line now crosses the whole city, so it is not quicker than before for a downtown trip
- Last bus around 18:00, so not an option after Hoi An’s lanterns come on
- Little room for big suitcases
- No stop at the airport, the train station or the beach road
Insider Tips for 2026
- Carry small notes. A 500,000 note at 7 am is a problem for the conductor and for you.
- Staying for the lanterns? Plan a Grab, a taxi or your own scooter for the ride back — the buses stop around 18:00.
- Avoid the late-afternoon rush on Friday and Sunday, when students and commuters fill the buses.
- For the Marble Mountains, get off on Le Van Hien and you are a short walk from the caves — a cheap half-day from Hoi An.
- In the flood months, usually October and November, low streets such as Cua Dai Street can go under and buses detour. Check the weather before planning a tight connection.
Faster Alternative: Explore Both Cities by Motorbike
